2009 north island champs

Well as per usual, the Cambridge BMX club put on one hell of a meeting. The track was in top shape and very fast. (i did a few laps)
Just like the 2006 nationals there, everything ran like clockwork. For some reason, events held at this venue just have an electric atmosphere.
Even as a spectator, i was as excited about watching all the age groups as if i had been riding.. Well done to the over 30 winners, shimanski, rmc and moonie, penney and ellis..
The race of the weekend had to be the 30/34 final race with the lead changing several times..very entertaining.
Was also great to see a few old schoolers riding and watching..with dougy matheson right back into the thick of things finishing 2nd and kevin brinsden having a crack in the 40/44 cruiser also..
I also spotted brent (huggie)burrows and had a chat, while a couple of other legends scott hazelwood and tim carroll were watching from the sidelines with an excited look about giving it a go!!
Thanks to mr nelson for the accomodation and great hospitality!!

I agree Dave, it was a great meeting and the track was very fast. Well done to the Cambridge club & the Waikato Region, you can always be guaranteed a good race meeting. A bit bummed that i couldn't compete properly in the final after my moto crash but glad to make the final all the same. It is definitley going to be a fast season. Do you find this valuable?

Nice write up Dave! What a great weekend, a real test thats for sure. Supercrusier would of fitted in nicely! So cool to catch up with the guys ,I havn't seen Tim for @ 20 years he,s just the same! Ash and Huggie were give n me **** and thats always fun ha. Scotty is ride n which is cool and he can still get outta that gate quick ( he's the only kiwi I saw beat Greg Hill out of the gate @ Rotorua back in the 80s and he was only 16 ) won't be long before he's up to speed. I hope I can get to Taupo it looks cool I just Luv getting in 1 practice before racing lol. C U @ Taupo ! Do you find this valuable?

Hey it finaly stopped raining and weather was as hot as the action!! Great to see the pro section being done! Has given me alot of amo to tease our local boys with( fancy letting a mainlander be the first to jump it) would never have happened bitd. Was fun trying to beat Steve (the ledgend) Shimanski, bit sick of looking at his arse.
Was the most fun I have had racing for along time. Mooney had the fastest lap, lets see what happens when we all get together at Taupo... Bring it on!!!!!
