Well as per usual, the Cambridge BMX club put on one hell of a meeting. The track was in top shape and very fast. (i did a few laps)
Just like the 2006 nationals there, everything ran like clockwork. For some reason, events held at this venue just have an electric atmosphere. Even as a spectator, i was as excited about watching all the age groups as if i had been riding.. Well done to the over 30 winners, shimanski, rmc and moonie, penney and ellis.. The race of the weekend had to be the 30/34 final race with the lead changing several times..very entertaining. Was also great to see a few old schoolers riding and watching..with dougy matheson right back into the thick of things finishing 2nd and kevin brinsden having a crack in the 40/44 cruiser also.. I also spotted brent (huggie)burrows and had a chat, while a couple of other legends scott hazelwood and tim carroll were watching from the sidelines with an excited look about giving it a go!! Thanks to mr nelson for the accomodation and great hospitality!! |

well the norths are nearly here, october 20/21 in hamilton. i cant wait for racing to start again and mixing it with the 35/39 cruiser boys. i have to redeem myself after falling at the nationals!! with the first corner being tar sealed now, it should create exiting racing.
there was some talk earlier about an old school display. is anyone keen to showoff their old beauties? i hope all you old bmxers that have been thinking/talking about starting again, are still turning up to the norths.see you all there |

Great to see that the Super Cruiser is obviously helping with some riders. Congratulations must go out to regulars on the circuit that showed what they are made of in Adelaide: Brian Ellis World 2 - 45+ (the only one that could beat him happened to be one Mr Eric Rupe), Steve Schimanski World 3 - 30/34, Paul "Mooney" Luttrell World 4 - 40/44, Laurie Penney World 4 - 45+. Well done guys, a quick rest and then you can show off that pace by taking home some money as well.
